Child Abuse Is A Worldwide Problem - 1037 Words
Imagine one of your close friends or even yourself being afraid to go home because of what awaits. Child abuse is a worldwide problem and it doesnââ¬â¢t matter what age, religion, gender, or ethnicity you are, it happens everywhere. It is neglecting, emotional, physical, and sexual maltreatment. Child abuse has serious physical and psychological consequences which affect the health and overall well-being of a child. There are different forms of maltreatment, abuse can result in bad consequences, check for signs of abuse, the statistics, and how people can help. First, the different ways of abuse. The most common type of maltreatment is physical abuse. ââ¬Å"Physical abuse is when a parent causes any non-accidental physical injury to a child. About 28.3% of adults reported to be physically abused as a child.â⬠(www.childhelp.org ). The next most common type of abuse is sexual abuse. ââ¬Å"Sexual abuse is when an adult uses a child for sexual purposes or involves a child in sexual acts. The percent of adults that reported to be sexual abused was 20.7% of adults.â⬠(www.childhelp.org ) The last and least common abuse, but still happens is emotional abuse and neglect. ââ¬Å"This is when a parent rejects, ignores, humiliates, isolates, terrorizes, and corrupts a child. Ten percent less of adults reported to be emotionally abused or neglected rather than physically or sexually, 10.6% of adults were neglected and emotionally abused.â⬠(www.childhelp.org ).
